In the end, what it really tells us is just how iconic characters like Wonder Woman are. What's most interesting, however, is how a single minor change like adding pants or removing seemingly ridiculous things like underwear over pants can be easily noticed. Diana struggles with herself as she tries to avenge the destruction of Paradise Island. It can be interesting to note how often these redesigns occur and, more importantly, what manages to stick. Michael Straczynski reinvents Wonder Woman with a new costume and a parallel universe story line that maintains some of the Wonder Woman that we have grown up with but introduces new concepts and villains. Especially if they're one of the original superheroes like Wonder Woman. The most interesting thing about that design was the return of the gold elements to her costume, after years of an all-silver color scheme Though it may not seem like it, something as simple as pants or a jacket can be a major change to a hero's image. The "DC You" movement introduced a bold new look for Wonder Woman with an outfit that encased her in protective gear. Nevertheless, the New 52 reboot quickly erased this origin and costume. The changes to her costume were subtle but, because it was Wonder Woman, they made a big difference. It introduced a new origin for Diana, going so far as to destroy Themyscira.
